The barn

On my second day at the cottage,  I was desperately tired, with two sleepless nights behind me. I could also feel a cold coming on. I decided to explore but for only a little while, before heading home to rest and regroup.

There is big barn on the property. It's surrounded by trees, mostly maples. They grow far too close. A thick mat of fallen leaves soften the ground.

On the north side, an old car is rusting away. The model looks to be from the sixties. Who knows how many decades it's been sitting there, but by the looks of it, it's been several. In my teens, I briefly dated someone whose dream it was to have a house in the countryside, with car wrecks rusting in the yard. I thought it was oddly specific.

I plan to have the car recycled.

As it happens,
there are a lot of other jobs to complete before the car can be removed. The driveway has trees growing through it, and piles of garbage littered about. I need to cut down the trees and relocate the garbage. For example, there is a pile of unused bricks that have begun to grow moss. But they might come in handy later, so I'll find a better place to store them.

Also, there's a bath tub! I think I'll keep that too, but I'm a bit scared of what I might find beneath it.

The only doors I could unlock where these double doors.

The scarecrow startled me for a second.

I found some useful tools!

In the corner of the building there's a room constructed with logs, which I think used to house the animals. Now there is wooden shingles, broken sleds and miscellaneous stuff.

Before I left, I raked the part of the driveway I could access. Ready for the next visit!
